High School Essay Contest

In the inaugural High School Essay Contest, we received over 200 applications. Topics ranged from “Modern Strategies for Combating Mexican Drug Cartels” to “China’s Real Estate Crisis.” Congratulations to 1st Place Winner Divya Beeram, 2nd Place Winner Ediz Karakas, and 3rd Place Winner Rudransh Singh Palta!

Welcome to the YFPI Essay Contest! We are providing high school students interested in international politics and foreign policy with an amazing opportunity to practice research skills, educate themselves, win prizes, and be published in Yale journals. Sign up to submit your essay today!

What are the Prizes?

Essays will be graded by esteemed Yale professors in the Political Science department, Law School, and Jackson School of Global Affairs. Students whose essays place in the competition will have their work published in a Yale publication and the winner will receive a cash prize of $300.
